Press Release: Camp Archbald is saved!

That’s right, you read that correctly. On July 29th, 2020 Girl Scouts in the Heart of PA (GSHPA) announced that Camp Archbald benchmarks have been reached and it will no longer be sold or drilled for oil. It will be part of a plan to ensure the future of the property is cared for and available for Girl Scouts and the community. Read SoCA’s official press release regarding GSHPA’s decision here

SoCA Featured on Discover NEPA

Discover NEPA is a regional marketing initiative designed to promote NEPA as one of the country’s best places to live. They currently list events, stories and all the wonderful things happening in Northeastern Pennsylvania. On May 7th, 2020, Discover NEPA interviewed Marketing Chair, Emily Loder to feature SoCA as a Behind the Mission Statement organization on their website.

Update 5/20/20: Library displays have been postponed to 2021. New schedule of displays will be available next year.

Find yourself in a library all the time, or decided you haven’t been in a long time and need to go? Now is the perfect time to head to your local library to check out SoCA’s 100th anniversary display of Camp Archbald memorabilia. Rotating all over NEPA until November 1st, 2020, the display showcases old photographs, camp guides, gear, post cards and more! The oldest item dates back to 1930!
