Jamie – Co-Director
Hello! I’m Jamie and I’m excited to be the co-director of resident camp at Camp Archbald. I was a Girl Scout from Brownies through my Gold Award, a camper for about 7 years, and a counselor for 3 summers, including CIT Director. I was also Program Director at Camp Archbald for 1 year. I was recently trained to facilitate the high and low ropes courses at camp. Currently, I am an elementary Reading Specialist.
Jasmine – Co-Director
Hi, I’m Jasmine. I have been a Girl Scout for more than 20 years and a camper at Camp Archbald for 11 years. I was counselor for 3 years and then I was Director of the camp from 2001-2004. I currently work for the state in the Division of Developmental Disabilities.
Emily – Program Director
Howdy! I’m Skittles! I am so glad to be back at camp this summer after being away since 2008. I attended camp as a girl from 1992-2004, then as a staff member from 2005-2008. I have worked in the stables, arts and crafts and in units. My favorite spot is probably with the CITs in Greenwood. My husband, Dr. Smart Guy will be attending camp for the first time this summer and I can’t wait to show him the ropes! Literally, the ropes course. I can’t wait to see all the girls this summer and have an awesome time!
Tom – Archery Assistant
Howdy, I’m Dr. Smart Guy. I am Skittles’ husband. I will be helping out with teaching archery to the campers. I love cats and am sad I can’t bring them to camp but hope to see other wildlife while in my unit. I am a lifetime registered Girl Scout and have spent the last several years volunteering with Girl Scouts of Central Texas. My favorite Girl Scout activity is eating Girl Scout cookies, but I look forward to learning new and fun activities this summer.
Christina – Waterfront Director
Hi, I’m Xtina. I was a Girl Scout for 13 years, camper for 12 years including CIT, and counselor for 6 years. I’ve been a Girl Scout Leader for over 10 years. I have both my lifeguard and boating certifications. Currently, I’m a preschool teacher and swim coach.
Laura – Camp Nurse
Hello, I’m “Mrs. O” and I was a Girl Scout for 11 years, troop camper for 9 years, resident camper at Camp Archbald for 6 years and an assistant Brownie leader for 2 years. I volunteered as a badge leader for Boy Scouts for about 10 years teaching CPR and First Aid. Professionally, I have worked for 15 years as a camp nurse for children and adults with special and as a certified school nurse for the last 29 years. My hobbies include gardening and kayaking.
Ginger – Unit Leader
Hello, I’m Ginger. I was a Girl Scout and leader for over 20 years and was a camper at Camp Archbald for 8 years. I’ve worked at camp for over 20 years, including counselor, CIT Director, Arts and Craft Director, and Program Director. I’ve also worked as a teacher of students with disabilities for over 40 years. I have a passionate love for Camp Archbald and all the lessons and experiences that it can give.
Wendy – Camp Nurse
Hi all! My name is Wendy. I have been a Girl Scout all of my life. I started out as a day camper at Camp Laurel but that wasn’t for me. My mother thought I was too young for overnight camp. At 12, I assured her I certainly was. She was shocked that I cried when she came to pick me up and not when she dropped me off. Camp Archbald became part of my life. I went up through the years, CIT, and counselor. I married and had Daisy and Brownie troops before I ever had children. When my daughter was old enough, 6 years old, I tried her with 1 week of Laurel and 1 week of Archbald. She was my daughter and informed me “2 weeks of Archbald or nothing.” We did weekend troop camping and ran family camp in the summer. It was at Camp Archbald that I decided to become a nurse and have been an RN for 37 years. I worked as camp nurse over the years many summers. I am CPR certified and love to bake.
More staff to come for summer 2021!
