SoCA Yearly Calendar (this is a working document and is updated when new events happen, last updated 3/15/20)

All SoCA general meetings are held the 2nd Sunday, every other month. Locations switch between the Factoryville Borough at 161 College Ave. Factoryville, PA 18419, Greater Scranton YMCA at 706 North Blakely Street, Dunmore, PA 18512 or Camp Archbald 100 Camp Archbald Rd. Kingsley, PA 18826.

2020

Complete 10 tasks about Camp Archbald and e-mail or mail the request back for your special edition girl-designed 100th anniversary patch! Our patch was designed by Maddy O. from troop 50774! The boxes include everything you need to complete the activities and takes an average of 2.5 hours to complete, with 3+ hours for younger girls.

To further celebrate the 100 year anniversary of CA, we will be putting out a ‘zine comprised of submissions from our camp community: you folks! We are asking that you submit drawings, poems, stories – anything that reminds you of camp that you want to share with everyone! Camp songs are not allowed. You can submit to Noah Penny at 423 Walnut Street Apt. 218 Harrisburg, PA 17101 or emailed to noahpenny3@gmail.com with the subject line “Zine Submission.” 

Submissions due no later than August 1st, 2021.

Hosted by GSHPA. Tasks will be determined based on the interest and skill of volunteers on each of the 7 days throughout the fall and you will be asked in the registration process to describe your interests or skills. All levels of Girl Scouts, and skill sets of volunteers, are welcome.

Examples of work include, but not limited to: cleaning buildings that have been closed since March (shop vac, mopping, eliminating cobwebs), removing dead fall (including picking up sticks, using a chainsaw, and stacking wood), and creating new trails.

Activity day for girls Juniors to Ambassadors. Girls will be working towards the new Climbing Adventure badges. Activities include low ropes, team building and other socially distance appropriate activities.

Open to Daisies, Brownies and Juniors. Come to camp for a day of wintery fun! Hikes, crafts, cocoa, and cookies! Be sure to dress for the weather.

A do over from 2020. All are welcome! Come out to camp for traditional camp activities such as swimming, boating and arts and crafts. Find people who went to camp the same years as you for our decade photos, and spend the evening with a campfire and s’mores. Volunteers needed to help run activities. Want to help or have questions?
