An Update on Resident Camp

As you know, a lot has changed in the past several years.  Camp Archbald is no longer in jeopardy of being sold or closed.  Programming at camp has been thriving and endless hours have been spent by both GSHPA staff and SOCA volunteers on improvements and repairs.  If you have not had a chance to see the revitalized area around Greenwood, you will be amazed.  Starting in the next few weeks, additional work will begin - including roof repairs, fire escape repairs, and exterior and interior painting.  SOCA and GSHPA are now true partners again and our collaborations are a prime example of what Girl Scouting should be!

And speaking of collaborations, we have some great news to share!  SOCA and GSHPA will join forces this summer to offer resident camp at Camp Archbald!

Great progress on this new venture has already been made, and we continue to work closely with GSHPA on finalizing details.  We ask for your support and patience during this time.  We promise to keep you updated.  We do know things will change, such as marketing (SOCA’s summer camp guide will be part of GSHPA’s), registration (which will now be taken care of by GSHPA) and tuition (which will match Small Valley, and includes the opportunity for financial assistance). We also know there is a lot remaining the same.  Jamie Puchalski will remain camp Archbald’s summer camp director. She will continue to plan, create, budget and implement programming - just as in the past.  And, Camp Archbald’s traditions and legacy will carry on for our Girl Scouts.

Again, we will be sharing more information in the future as we work out details. Thank you for all you do for Camp Archbald!   We hope you share in our excitement as our relationship continues to grow and evolve.
